Washington D.C. drivers seem to have a hard time remembering this simple advice, as the District came in near the absolute bottom of a recent report on the nation’s driving habits, ranking 198th out of 200.
According to the report, D.C.’s drivers are 97 percent more likely to be involved in a traffic accident than the rest of the nation. In addition, the report mentions that the average driver in the nation’s capital will crash about every five years.
Alexandria drivers were not much better off, ranking 193rd, with Baltimore coming in 195th. D.C. was even worse than last year when it was given the 194th spot.
The rankings were calculated by Allstate insurance, which examined its collision statistics for drivers in the 200 largest U.S. cities between 2011 and 2012.
