$2.55 Million Dollar Award for Medical Malpractice Case

In February 2017, Peter DePaolis was part of the successful legal team representing a plaintiff in a medical malpractice case involving an injury during spinal surgery called posterior lumbar interbody fusion.  During the surgery, a physician inserted surgical instruments called shavers too deeply into the plaintiff’s body and lacerated two major blood vessels, causing significant injuries, including permanent brain damage. After four hours of deliberation, a Virginia jury awarded the plaintiff $2,550,000.
