A pedestrian accident involving a Buick and a small boy left the boy with serious injuries late last month in Northeast DC. Unfortunately, no one can identify the small victim and DC police need the public’s help.
According to a report at wusa9.com, the victim is an African-American male weighing about 85 pounds and 4 feet 6 inches tall. Around 10:30 a.m., the boy was crossing the street in the 1100 block of Eastern Avenue when a black Buick struck him. The driver got out of his vehicle to assist, but the boy was alone at the time of the accident. Rescue workers transported him to Children’s Hospital where doctors say his condition is serious.
As of the writing of this blog post, authorities are still searching for anyone with information on the boy’s identity. He was wearing blue jeans and black sneakers when the car struck him in the intersection.
It is fortunate that the driver stopped to help the young victim. Pedestrian accidents in crosswalks can occur because traffic is too heavy at some intersections. In other instances, drivers fail to see a designated crosswalk for pedestrians.
