Eight people suffered injuries when a ceiling partially collapsed at an event on I Street SE in Washington, D.C. on the night of August 16. The collapse occurred during a go-go music exhibition organized by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.
According to fire officials, construction and the vibrations coming from the music event may have dislodged dust, debris and ceiling foam insulation, causing these materials to fall onto the audience.
Victims suffered what appeared to be minor injuries and were expected to be released that night.
Hurt by a Building Collapse or Other Premises Liability Accident? Our Injury Attorneys Can Help
Accidents can occur at the most surprising moments, and victims have no way of knowing when they are about to enter a structure in danger of collapsing. Premises liability dictates that landowners are often responsible when injuries occur on their property. Though the injuries in the previously mentioned incident do not appear serious, many structural failures do cause severe harm each year, and landowners must be accountable for the conditions of their buildings.
If you were injured in an inadequately upheld structure in Washington, D.C., the landowner may be accountable for your injuries and our personal injury attorneys can work with you. Our injury law firm began in 1979 with the goal of defending the rights of injury victims.
