There was a spike in the number of traffic crashes and disabled vehicles. Toppled trees posed dangers. Snowplows themselves got stuck on roads. Even the U.S. Postal Service was unable to deliver mail due to hazardous conditions.
Many of the accidents that occurred during this storm could have been avoided. We are fortunate enough to live in a country where these weather-related problems are handled, for the most part, in a timely manner. Utility companies repair power outages in hours. Roads may take a day or two to be cleared, but they will be safe shortly.
