NBC Washington reported recently that a former Navy SEAL, now retired, and Gulf War veteran was killed while he was riding his bike along Massachusetts Avenue in Bethesda on August 28.
According to the news outlet, the 64-year-old victim was riding on Massachusetts Avenue near Osceola Road at around 6:15 a.m., when a Chevrolet Malibu struck him. The man died at the scene of the accident.
The crash remains under investigation. The driver of the Malibu, a 22-year-old Maryland man, has not been charged, according to NBC Washington. The Montgomery County Police is asking anyone who witnessed the crash to contact it directly.
The victim leaves behind five daughters. The man was allegedly on his way to meet his oldest daughter for coffee when the accident occurred. He was a United States Naval Academy graduate and Navy SEAL commodore, according to NBC Washington.
