Two fatal auto crashes in 24-hours last month claimed the lives of two men in Charles County. In a report at somdnews.com, one man died when his car hit a bus, and the other man died after an SUV struck him in an intersection.
The 20-year-old Fort Washington man died when his car collided with a Maryland Transit Administration bus. He was driving his vehicle near the park-and-ride at Chaney Place when the MTA bus pulled out in front of him. According to investigators, the cause of the fatal collision was the bus driver’s failure to yield to the victim’s car.
In the other accident, a 31-year-old man was walking across U.S. 301 in the crosswalk when an SUV struck and killed him. Rescue workers transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The 27-year-old SUV driver did not suffer injuries in the crash. Investigators are still trying to figure out whether alcohol played a role in the deadly collision.
