On August 2, 2017, a D.C. Fire Department ladder truck struck a firefighter pinning him against a parked fire truck. The D.C. Government investigation of the incident concluded that the cause of the injury was that the firefighter lacked situational awareness.
Today, the firefighter filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit alleging that the drivers deliberately struck him to avoid colliding with another fire truck, and he alleges that the cause of the collision was a lack of adequate training and a fraudulent misrepresentation by the Fire Chief. The Fire Chief deliberately falsified the training that the firefighter received.
